Description

The Howdens Holdenby Oak clear glazed internal door combines the familiar cottage-style vertical-groove design with a large clear glazed section that helps light move between rooms. Its American white oak veneer brings natural warmth and grain, making it a strong choice for hallways, kitchens, dining rooms and living spaces where you want a traditional look without making the room feel closed in.

Grafton Carpentry supplies and professionally fits Holdenby Oak glazed doors throughout Leicester and locations within roughly one hour of the city. The price displayed on this page includes professional fitting, so it represents an installed cost rather than a door-only price. Suitable standard handles and essential fitting hardware are included with qualifying fitted jobs.

What is the Holdenby Oak clear glazed door?

The Holdenby is an engineered internal door with a particleboard core, real American white oak veneer and narrow vertical grooves that create its recognisable cottage-style appearance. It is not a solid oak door throughout. The engineered core helps provide stability, while the genuine veneer gives every door natural colour and grain variation.

This glazed model has one clear toughened glass light set into the upper section, with the Holdenby panel detailing below. The glass has the required etched safety marking and is cramp-glazed during manufacture. This means it is fixed into the door and is not intended to be removed or replaced separately at a later date.

An unfinished oak door you can personalise

The door is supplied unfinished, allowing you to choose a compatible clear finish, oil, varnish or stain to suit the room. A clear or lightly tinted product can retain the fresh oak appearance, while other suitable finishes may deepen the tone and emphasise the grain. Because real veneer varies naturally, always test the chosen product where possible and follow its instructions.

Finishing is an essential stage, not an optional cosmetic extra. After any permitted trimming and preparation, all faces and edges must be sealed promptly with a suitable system in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidance. Correct preparation helps protect the veneer and provides a more consistent result.

Where does a clear glazed Holdenby door work best?

This design is ideal when a solid door would interrupt daylight. Popular positions include between a kitchen and dining room, a hallway and lounge, or a landing and home office. The clear glass offers more light transfer than obscure glazing, so consider how much privacy the adjoining rooms require before selecting it.

If privacy is important, another glazed pattern or a solid Holdenby design may be more suitable. Browse our glazed internal door range to compare options, or ask us to recommend a design for the way your rooms are used.

Why choose professional supply and fitting?

Internal doors rarely fit correctly straight from the packaging. Existing frames can be out of square, hinge positions differ and floor finishes affect the required clearance. The door must be sized only within the manufacturer’s permitted tolerances, with the lippings, hinges, latch and handle positioned accurately.

Our service includes checking the opening, confirming an appropriate available size, preparing the door, hanging it in the existing frame and aligning the latch and ironmongery. This reduces the risk of excessive trimming, uneven gaps, binding edges or damage to the glazed door. If the existing frame needs additional remedial work, we will explain the implications wherever possible.

Holdenby Oak glazed door sizes and fitted price

Several standard imperial and metric sizes may be available, subject to current stock. The right choice depends on your opening and on the trimming allowance for the selected size. The displayed product price covers the standard supply-and-fit specification; your final quotation may change if frame repairs, unusual preparation, upgraded ironmongery or other bespoke work is required.

Grafton Carpentry currently focuses on supplying and fitting doors as a complete service. A broader supply-only option is coming, but is not fully available at present. See the areas we cover or contact us with your location and the number of doors required.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Holdenby Oak glazed door solid oak?

No. It has an engineered particleboard core with real American white oak veneer. This combines stable construction with the appearance and natural variation of oak.

Does the unfinished Holdenby door need sealing?

Yes. After permitted preparation, every face and edge should be sealed with a compatible product in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Is the glass toughened safety glass?

The door is supplied with clear toughened etched glass. It is cramp-glazed, so the pane is fixed into the door and cannot normally be replaced separately.

Can a Holdenby glazed door be trimmed?

Only within the manufacturer’s stated limits. We measure the opening, choose the closest appropriate size and make only permitted adjustments.

Does the listed price include fitting and handles?

The displayed price includes professional fitting. Suitable standard handles and essential fitting hardware are included with qualifying fitted jobs; the quotation confirms the exact specification.
