Description

Bring more natural light into hallways, landings and living spaces with the Howdens Dordogne Oak clear glazed internal door. Its broad glazed panel gives the traditional Dordogne design a lighter, more open feel, while the American white oak veneer adds warmth and visible grain. Grafton Carpentry supplies and professionally fits this door throughout Leicester and locations within roughly one hour of the city.

The displayed price includes professional fitting, so you can compare the real installed cost rather than a door-only price. Suitable standard handles and essential fitting hardware are included with qualifying fitted jobs. We measure the opening, confirm the correct size, prepare the door within the manufacturer’s permitted tolerances and hang it carefully in the existing frame.

What is the Howdens Dordogne Oak glazed door?

This is a glazed version of the popular Dordogne Oak internal door. It uses stile-and-rail construction with a particleboard core and an approximately 0.6mm grade-A American white oak veneer. The engineered construction helps provide stability while retaining the character and natural variation associated with real oak veneer.

The door is supplied unfinished. After any permitted trimming and preparation, it must be sealed on all faces and edges with a compatible finishing system in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. An unfinished door gives you control over the final tone and sheen, but finishing is not optional: leaving oak veneer unprotected can affect appearance and durability.

Clear toughened etched glass

A large clear glazed panel allows light to travel between rooms without losing the visual impact of an oak door. The glass is toughened and carries the required etched safety marking. It is cramp-glazed during manufacture, which means the glass is fixed into the door and is not designed to be replaced separately later.

This makes the design especially useful between a kitchen and dining room, a hallway and lounge, or anywhere a darker room would benefit from borrowed light. Although described as clear, reflections, lighting and the safety etching can influence how the glass looks in photographs and in your home.

Why professional fitting matters

A pre-sized door still needs to suit the individual opening. Existing frames are rarely perfectly square, and the fitter must account for floor levels, clearances, hinge positions, latch alignment and the manufacturer’s trimming limits. Excessive trimming can expose the engineered core, reduce the strength of the lippings or invalidate product guidance.

Our supply-and-fit service removes that guesswork. We check the opening, advise on available sizes, fit the hinges and latch, align the door for an even reveal and make sure it opens and closes correctly. If the frame or lining needs remedial work, we explain this before proceeding wherever possible.

Dordogne Oak glazed door sizes and fitted price

Available sizes can vary, so the best option depends on your opening and current Howdens availability. The product price shown on this page is the fitted price for the selected standard specification. Your final quotation may vary if you choose different ironmongery, require frame repairs, need unusual preparation or are ordering several doors as part of a larger project.

Grafton Carpentry currently focuses on supplying and fitting doors as one complete service. A wider supply-only service is planned, but it is not fully available at present. For help choosing between glazed and solid designs, browse our glazed internal door range or view the areas we cover.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Dordogne Oak glazed door solid oak?

No. It has an engineered particleboard core with real American white oak veneer. This provides the look and natural grain of oak with the stability of engineered construction.

Does the unfinished oak door need sealing?

Yes. It should be sealed on every face and edge with a suitable product after permitted preparation and in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Is the glass safety glass?

The door is supplied with clear toughened glass and an etched safety marking. The glazing is cramp-fixed and is not intended to be replaced separately.

Can the glazed door be trimmed?

Only within the manufacturer’s stated trimming limits. We assess the opening and select the closest suitable size before carrying out any permitted adjustment.
